ICEMAKERS is a feature-length documentary that follows a small but determined group of community rink-makers as they battle the elements to keep Canada’s outdoor hockey tradition alive. From backyard rinks in rural Manitoba, to forest clearings in Ontario, and homemade Zambonis in the Yukon, these Icemakers work through late nights, early mornings, and unforgiving cold to transform uneven ground into fleeting winter sanctuaries. Equal parts science and artistry, their labour is driven not by recognition, but by a belief in what outdoor hockey represents: community, resilience, and connection.
