Winnipeg filmmaker Randy Frykas is Canada’s lone winner in Outside Magazine’s first-ever Outside Awards. Up against some of the world’s best outdoor filmmakers, Frykas won first place in the “Purpose” category, taking home a $5,000 USD prize. The film will be included in the Warren Miller Film Tour to be screened alongside other winning films in cities across North America including Denver, Boston, San Francisco, Vancouver, Chicago, Calgary, and Phoenix.
Screenings will take place from October, 2023– January, 2024.
Votes will be tabulated at every screening to select a grand prize winner of $10,000USD to be announced in February, 2024.
“My goal is to make a documentary series that features stories about the purest form of hockey. One that excludes tryouts, expensive registration fees, and overpriced equipment and promotes inclusivity. While this is a ‘Club’, anyone can be a part of it.”
